Landscape, Small, 2007
Transition explores red shift, the attenuation that occurs to a particle of light as it escapes from a gravitational field. Sound waves also experience a similar phenomenon. Barry Guy demonstrates this in Red Shift, his composition for two cellos, where the two instruments play in unison but slight shifts in pitch result in disconcerting effects. This fine art print uses collograph and screen print to create a shimmer effect to represent this phenomenon.
