Land: etching carborundum print by Stephen Vaughan

€500 edition of 16

In this print the land bears witness to the mechanical activities that are imposed upon it. This systematic moulding of the land is brutal, unforgiving, a time and motion exercise explicitly practiced to increase output and produce a better yield. At the same time, with this land, we are left with a terrain acting as abstract canvas, a picture with some aesthetic merits.

70cm X 100cm, etching/carborundum, landscape, medium, 2006

Viewing a work of art in person is a good way to get a sense of its scale, the vibrancy of its colours and, all the nuances of textures of the print surface. My work can be found in galleries in Ireland and abroad.
