Chantez
€350 edition of 20
38cm x 50cm, Landscape, Small, etching/carborundum/screenprint, 2009
In this print, Chantez, the synthesised textured surface, representing the timber beams of some sailing ship, have taken on a pattern matching the rhythm of daily routine on board, the rhythm of the song employed by sailors to alleviate the boredom of a long journey at sea, where the horizon is always the same. The title Chantez is invoked as an order to those sailors to sing; a call to action, in other words, to keep their spirits up.
